Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle has been compounded by Saturday’s Premier League results.
An Alexander Isak penalty in stoppage time after a handball from Moussa Niakhate condemned Steve Cooper’s side to their first defeat at home in the league since mid-September. The Reds had taken the lead on the night after a goal from Emmanuel Dennis but Isak’s equalizer on the stroke of half-time followed by the winning penalty has increased relegation worries at the City Ground.
Forest is now just two points above the bottom three after Everton’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea in the late kick-off. Leicester City secured a point in a 1-1 draw at Brentford and Southampton drew 3-3 with Tottenham, although there will be some relief at Bournemouth’s 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Martin Wilkinson: Slightly worrying for Forest. We are poor at the minute while all the teams around us seem to be picking up points. I do think we will be going down, unfortunately. Just can’t see where our points are coming from looking at the remaining fixtures
Thomas Newton: Could you see us getting a draw at Chelsea? No, me neither
Singermark77: All the teams at the bottom showing they can score goals, probably our bus parking tactics but fundamentally that’s why we will go down as we create about 2 half chances per game
David Nicholson: Another tough weekend and it’s not looking good. However, it’s been the best 18 months I’ve experienced as a Forest fan for many years and I’ll be back next season whatever happens.
James: Unfortunately right now, that’s the difference between us and all the teams near the bottom. They’re battling and nicking points, we look deflated and lack confidence. Football can change quickly, let’s hope it does
