Paul Merson has said on Sky Sports News (5:05 pm, March 18, 2023) that Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison was teary when he had to come off in the opening minutes of the Premier League game against Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Tottenham took on Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League today.
Brazil international forward Richarlison started the match.
However, the £175,000-a-week former Watford and Everton star (SalarySport) suffered an early injury and came off after five minutes.
Former Arsenal star Merson was following the match, and he noted that Richarlison was devastated that he had to come off due to injury.

Merson said about Richarlison: “He has gone off injured. I don’t know what he has actually done. He is a bit tearful. He is in the Brazil squad, but he won’t be able to go there now. He was very distraught.”
Now, no player wants to come off due to injury, and it will come as a big blow for Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison.
The Brazil international forward has had injury problems this season and has not always played regularly for Spurs.
And he was just getting back into form and was beginning to get to start matches on a regular basis for Antonio Conte’s side.
It remains to be seen for how long Richarlison is out.
