Tottenham fans should be furious about who Paratici has now chosen to replace Conte

Tottenham manager news has become a trending topic, and Spurs fans should now be furious as a rumor emerges about who Fabio Paratici has chosen to replace Antonio Conte.

The Italian’s future at Spurs was plunged into uncertainty following the Champions League Round of 16 exits at the hands of AC Milan.

Conte then exacerbated the situation on Saturday by calling the Tottenham players “selfish” while also questioning why Spurs have failed to win a trophy for almost two decades.

If that outburst didn’t already anger Tottenham fans, they will surely be fed up now.

WHAT’S THE STORY?

Well, Paratici has now chosen Paulo Fonseca to replace Conte – according to Rahman Osman.

That in itself is not the issue, as the 50-year-old is actually a very talented coach.

The problem is that Fonseca had agreed to join Tottenham in 2021 before Paratici was hired as Director of Football by Daniel Levy, only for the Italian to pull the plug on the deal in one of his first acts after arriving in N17.

Fonseca actually admitted that, telling the Telegraph: “The agreement was done, but things changed when the new managing director arrived and we didn’t agree with some ideas and he preferred another coach.”

Hiring Fonseca now would practically be an admission from Paratici that he has wasted two years of Tottenham’s time.

Spurs could have had the Portuguese tactician, who is now doing a stunning job at Lille, two years into a long-term project at Hotspur Way had Paratici not interfered.

Instead, Tottenham fans have been forced to endure some of the most boring football they have witnessed for years under the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte, making next to no progress under either coach.

If Paratici was to now hire Fonseca, we feel he should come out and openly explain his decision.

Tottenham fans have wasted hundreds of pounds following their beloved Spurs over the past two years, and they deserve better than a Director of Football who could quite easily be accused of making it up as he goes along should he recommend Fonseca to be appointed.

TOTTENHAM MANAGER NEWS

As things stand, it seems Ryan Mason will be taking the reins until the end of the season.

The Telegraph believes Conte will leave Tottenham this week, with the 31-year-old given the task of securing a place in the top four until a long-term replacement is found.

Hopefully, Mason does well and puts himself in the frame to replace Conte.

Whatever happens, if Paratici brings Fonseca to Tottenham, Spurs fans would have every right to entirely lose faith in their club’s Director of Football.
