Injury Expert: ‘Vicious’ cycle led to knock-on effects for Everton star, surgery claim shared

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Dr. Rajpal Brar believes that Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s playing through the pain barrier last season is what’s led to him being so injury prone.

The England international has already missed half of the Toffees’ games this season, making just nine Premier League starts.

He missed eight games at the start of the campaign and recently, he returned to full fitness, only to relapse and pick up another injury.

Discussing his recurring injury concerns exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “Calvert-Lewin is a case in point of a player gutting through injury as he played through a big toe injury at the start of last season which led to multiple knock-on effects.

“Then a vicious injury cycle of lost fitness and increased injury risk.

“Whether surgery is a solution or not depends on injury specifics.”

With only one goal this season, his contributions in the final third have been as good as non-existent.

Arguably, the Englishman’s best performance came in the 1-0 win over Arsenal which was Sean Dyche’s first game in charge.

The recurring injury concerns have taken away from the lethal goal scorer he’s been for Everton in the past few seasons.
