Tottenham’s search for a potential successor to head coach Antonio Conte continues as the Italian looks set to leave the club at the end of his contract in the summer. Plenty of names have been linked, from a return for Mauricio Pochettino to Luis Enrique and a number of others.

However, the latest name to be thrown into the circle may come as a bit of a surprise due to the abrupt nature of his exit from management. That’s Julian Nagelsmann, who was Bayern Munich’s boss until the board of the Bundesliga champions decided to make a shock change.

Former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann is open to talks with Tottenham over replacing Antonio Conte, according to Sky Sports. However, the report does suggest he may seek a short period of reflection before returning to management.

Nagelsmann has previously gone on record to speak of his admiration of the Spurs in the past. “[I’ve followed Tottenham closely] since Pochettino was there,” he said during his RB Leipzig days.

“He’s a really good manager, his team was great to watch.”

Playing style revealed

If Nagelsmann were to take the role in north London, what sort of play style would he play? Speaking to the Telegraph in 2021, he insisted that entertaining fans was a No. 1 priority, saying: “Winning is what matters and winning is entertaining.

“I never want to change my offensive and attacking football because I love it and I love it when the fans have an emotional time in the stadium. So I will not change this. But if there is a time when I cannot win like this then I will have to change.”

Nagelsmann eyed

The Evening Standard reports that Tottenham is set to monitor developments over the situation at Bayern Munich with links over a swoop for Nagelsmann. The report adds that Spurs have previously eyed the coach for a role in the past, but the opportunity to make the jump has arisen again.

Tuchel impact

Thomas Tuchel has been linked with a move to Tottenham as a potential successor to Conte, however, that is now unlikely. That’s because the former Chelsea boss will take over at Bayern as manager as a result of Nagelsmann’s dismissal during the international break.
