Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly in talks to sign Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa and the Bundesliga ace has admitted that he would ‘like to experience the Premier League’.

The left-sided spot has been something of a weak link all season at Spurs. Ryan Sessegnon is still no closer to realizing his potential, Ivan Perisic has been a bit of a disappointment, and Ben Davies, while as game and energetic as ever, is probably better suited to a more central, defensively-minded role these days.

Sosa, then, would be a welcome addition. A signing embraced not just by the Spurs supporters. But also by a forward line that has been forced to feed off scraps for much of the current campaign.

Sosa, in contrast, serves up a veritable buffet of chances at Stuttgart. In the last three-and-a-half seasons, the Zagreb-born set-piece specialist has created 29 assists. Nine of those have come in 2022/23, Sosa one of the few Stuttgart players producing consistently impressive displays during a largely disastrous few months.

BUNDESLIGA STAR BORNA SOSA REPORTEDLY IN TALKS TO JOIN TOTTENHAM

BILD reporter Christian Falk, via CaughtOffside, believes that talks between Tottenham and the 25-year-old Sosa are already underway ahead of a summer of change in North London.

And Sosa, who has been linked with Leeds, Manchester City, and Newcastle United in the recent past, has indicated that the time may be right for a fresh start. Especially with Stuttgart’s Bundesliga death rattle echoing in his ear.

“This summer could be the time for a new breakthrough,” Dalmatinski Portal quotes Sosa; a star performer as Croatia finished third at the Qatar World Cup.

“I hope to stay healthy until the end of the season. And I hope to be able to come to an agreement with the club. Personally, I would like to experience the Premier League once. It is the best league in the world.”

Sosa is reportedly valued at £22 million. Stuttgart may accept a reduced fee, however, with Sky Germany highlighting their financial concerns.

“Borna’s said himself David Beckham is his role model,” Stuttgart’s former sporting director Sven Mislintat tells BILD. “And I think he has the same qualities.

“He puts in crosses from every angle. Sometimes chipped, sometimes drilled, sometimes flat, sometimes in behind, sometimes to the front post, other times to the back post. His left foot is a real weapon.”
