Chelsea legend makes ‘big’ James Maddison prediction amid Newcastle and Tottenham transfer links

The latest Leicester City transfer news as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink gives his verdict on James Maddison’s future at Leicester City

Former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that James Maddison will leave Leicester City this summer.

The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months as he enters the final year of his contract. Newcastle United and Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing him, while Manchester City is said to have had a transfer offer rejected on deadline day.

The England international has been an instrumental figure in Fox’s midfield over the past few seasons. Maddison has scored 42 goals and contributed to 30 assists in the Premier League since joining Norwich City just under five years ago.

The quality of his performances this season will undoubtedly see many of the top clubs come in for him again this summer, although City will be desperate to hold onto him. Hasselbaink believes that this could be the year he makes the move away from King Power.

When asked by Parimatch which Premier League players he enjoys watching the most, the ex-Chelsea and Middlesbrough forward responded: “There’s a few. I really like James Maddison because he’s just so creative and I think he could be in line for a big transfer soon.”

Hasselbaink himself almost joined Leicester City in 2007, with the player ready to put pen to paper. But a disagreement between Martin Allen and Milan Mandaric, the club’s manager, and owner respectively at the time, set the deal to fall through.
