Report explains how Pochettino feels about taking over at club with his Spurs history

The Independent has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino is keen on taking the Chelsea job despite his past with Tottenham Hotspur.

Pochettino remains a popular figure with Spurs fans following his five-and-a-half seasons at the North London club, with supporters even chanting his name during recent matches in what was seemingly intended as a clear message to Daniel Levy.

Much to the consternation of many Tottenham fans, it now appears as if the Argentine is edging closer to taking over at Chelsea.

Multiple sources (The Telegraph and Fabrizio Romano) reported on Friday that Pochettino has now emerged as the leading contender to replace Graham Potter after Julian Nagelsmann withdrew himself from the race for the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

This claim has now also been confirmed by The Independent, which states that the former Spurs manager struck a chord with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly due to the clarity of his vision for the club.

The publication adds that Pochettino’s celebrated history with Tottenham is not seen as an issue by Chelsea.

It is explained that while it has played on the 51-year-old’s mind, he is keen to work at a top Premier League club again.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Pochettino would pick the Spurs if he had a choice between us and Chelsea.

So, it would not sit well with the Tottenham fan base if the club sit back and allow the Argentine to move to Stamford Bridge.

I am still holding out hope that Spurs will now make contact with Argentine since Fabio Paratici is no longer the one who is in charge of the managerial search.
