Brighton secure impressive attacker deal with De Zerbi to unleash potent new weapon next season

Highly-rated Brighton midfielder Andrew Moran has agreed on a new long-term deal at the club, TEAMtalk understands.

Moran, 19, is highly regarded within the corridors of power at the AMEX after joining Brighton from the Republic of Ireland side Bray Wanderers in 2020.

The Irish U21 international made his Premier League debut for Brighton in the 4-1 win over Everton at the start of this year.

Moran was handed his first-team debut for Brighton by former Seagulls boss Graham Potter in the Carabao Cup win over Cardiff in August 2021. He featured in the League Cup win over Forest Green earlier this season.

The attacking midfielder has predominantly featured for Brighton’s Under-21s in Premier League 2 this season, scoring an impressive seven goals and providing six assists in just 17 games.

Versatility is the keyword for Moran, with center-forward, No 10, left-wing, right-wing, and central midfield among the numerous positions he’s featured in this season.

Brighton has high hopes that Moran can follow in the footsteps of his fellow Irishman Evan Ferguson by becoming a regular in Roberto De Zerbi’s first-team plans from next season onwards.

Moran still has two years to run on his current deal on the south coast, but Brighton wants to reward him for his progress with fresh terms and a longer contract.

It’s TEAMtalk’s understanding Brighton’s attempts to do just that have been successful and official confirmation from the club will follow in the very near future.
