Gary Neville delivers Leicester City prediction in fight against relegation

The latest Leicester City news as Dean Smith’s side faces a huge game against Everton at the King Power Stadium amid the fight against the drop alongside Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has predicted Leicester City to avoid relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season, as he names his bottom three.

City currently sits in 18th place in the table but has the chance to climb out of the relegation zone when they take on Everton at the King Power Stadium. Nottingham Forest’s late loss against Brentford on Saturday coupled with Leeds’ defeat vs Bournemouth means that City can climb to 16th with just a point, although they will be targeting all three.

The clash against Everton has been billed as a relegation six-pointer, with the Toffees just one position and one point behind City in the table. A loss would therefore see Sean Dyche’s men leapfrog City in the table.

It looks set to be a tense 90 minutes, with four games to come after. But Neville has backed City to avoid relegation under new manager Dean Smith.

“I think Leicester are going to stay up,” he said on The Overlap fan debate. The pundit also named Southampton, Nottingham Forest, and Everton in his bottom three at the end of the season.

Jamie Carragher also left City out of his bottom three, which consisted of Southampton, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United.

Following the game against Everton, City faces another three Monday games in a row. In one week, the side travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.

The city then hosts Liverpool, before facing Newcastle at St James’ Park. They then finish their season at home against West Ham United.

The fact that City is playing four Mondays in a row is something that manager Smith doesn’t believe is right. “To be playing after everybody isn’t right, personally, with the scheduling. It is what it is and we deal with that,” he said.

“I don’t believe you’ve got any choice in it, once broadcasters have picked which games they’re going to broadcast, you’re stuck with it, unfortunately. It’s just a bit odd that we’re playing four Monday games on the spin.”
