Leeds could appoint former Newcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer as their next manager with Javi Gracia’s future currently in doubt, according to The Mail.

Gracia only joined towards the end of February, but after a run of awful results – the latest a 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday – they are now just a point above the relegation zone and preparing to make another change with four games remaining.

‘Sources close to the club’ say Bowyer is being seriously considered and could be in the dugout for our trip to Elland Road on May 13th; our next away game after Arsenal comes to St James’ Park this Sunday.

The 46-year-old has been out of a job since he was sacked by Birmingham last summer but could soon arrive as a short-term appointment to lift the spirits and galvanize the squad.

It won’t get any easier for Leeds who face three of the top six in their final four fixtures. Should Bowyer get the job, he will have a very difficult task on his hands.
