Newcastle United transfer rumours as Magpies send scouts to ‘monitor’ super star

A round-up of the latest Newcastle United transfer rumors.

Newcastle ‘monitoring’ Fikayo Tomori

Newcastle United is monitoring AC Milan and England center-back Fikayo Tomori, according to a report from 90Min.

Tomori is believed to be interested in a return to the Premier League after spending the last two-and-a-half years in Italy.

The defender initially joined AC Milan from Chelsea on loan in January 2021, before signing on a permanent basis for £25 million that summer.

The 25-year-old made his 100th appearance for the Rossoneri in a 1-1 draw against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

A number of Premier League scouts were reportedly paying close attention to Tomori, including Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester United, and his former club Chelsea.

Tomori was forced off with an injury at the break but his form since joining the Italian giants has attracted significant interest from England.

The England international, who has only been capped three times by his country, lifted the Serie A last season and has helped guide AC Milan to their first UEFA Champions League semi-final since they lifted the trophy in 2007.

Newcastle faces competition for teenage goalkeeper

Premier League rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa could challenge Newcastle United in their quest to sign Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Stephen McMullan.

According to The Sun, both clubs are tracking the teenager, although Newcastle remains in pole position to secure his signature.

The 18-year-old penned a long-term deal with Fleetwood in January and kept a clean sheet on his senior debut in a 1-0 win over MK Dons in April.

McMullan was plucked from Warrenpoint in the summer of 2022 and amassed 10 appearances in the Northern Irish top flight.

He has represented the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland at youth level – keeping a clean sheet for the latter in a goalless draw against the Netherlands in September 2022.
