Report: Tottenham makes a promise to a talented young star amid transfer rumors

Football Insider claim the Tottenham hierarchy has promised Harry Kane that his opinion will be taken on board when hiring a new head coach as the North London club attempt to keep hold of the striker.

The report states that Spurs first began talks with Kane regarding a new deal back in February but senior figures at the club are said to be ‘growing increasingly worried’ that he might not sign a new deal.

In an effort to keep hold of the center-forward, Spurs have allegedly promised him that he would have a ‘big say’ in the appointment process of the next Tottenham manager.

Daniel Levy and co are said to be willing to ‘pull out all the stops’ to convince Kane to stay and have thus assured him that he would be allowed to influence their manager search as a part of their contract talks.

Football Insider has asserted that the England captain could be ‘tempted’ to stay at Tottenham but the identity of the next head coach could be key in his decision.

The publication adds that Kane would prefer the club to appoint a more attack-minded manager this summer.

One would imagine that Kane’s number one preference might have been for Pochettino to come back, which is an idea that Spurs have passed on.

For the moment, it seems like the North London club’s hierarchy is putting all their eggs in the Julian Nagelsmann basket.

Sources: Tottenham open new manager talks – Levy wants a deal wrapped up soon

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to make a quick manager appointment after the recent chaos surrounding the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The recruitment process is still ongoing with Levy and club chiefs talking to several candidates.

Among those being considered for the role are former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, Burnley manager Vincent Kompany – and Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.

Ryan Mason has been installed as interim Tottenham boss until the end of the season, reprising the role he held once before in the 2020-21 season.

Mason was appointed after the sacking of former caretaker manager Cristian Stellini – who was relieved of his duties after a 6-1 away humiliation at Newcastle last month.

Nagelsmann, 35, was considered the top target for the job after Antonio Conte was sacked in March, with Chelsea also linked with the German.

The Blues have now chosen to appoint Mauricio Pochettino, with sources telling Football Insider (25 April) that the Argentine has verbally accepted an offer from the Londoners.

Kompany is also on Spurs’ radar after masterminding Burnley’s promotion back to the Premier League this season.

The Belgian, who made 265 Premier League appearances as a player for Man City, has completely revolutionized the Clarets’ philosophy in the 2022-23 campaign.

The slot is also a target for Tottenham after his work with Dutch giants Feyenoord this term.

The 44-year-old Dutchman is on the brink of winning the Eredivisie title after reaching the Europa Conference League final with the club last season.

Tottenham sit sixth in the Premier League following their last-gasp 4-3 loss away at Liverpool on Sunday (30 April).

The Lilywhites face competition from Liverpool, Aston Villa, Brighton, and Brentford for European qualification.

In other news, the door opens for Tottenham to sign Man United ace.
