West Ham played a blinder letting 24-yo attacker leave

Nathan Holland left West Ham on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and joined League One side MK Dons.

West Ham did not tie Nathan Holland down to a new deal after a couple of unsuccessful loan spells with Oxford United.

Hammers boss David Moyes actually tried to move the 24-year-old winger on from the London Stadium permanently two years ago.

He ended up just leaving on loan though, until his contract finally expired with West Ham nine months ago.

And it must be said, the Hammers got this one 100% correct by refusing to offer Holland a new deal…

West Ham played a Nathan Holland blinder

The 24-year-old Wythenshawe-born attacker has really struggled with MK Dons in Ligue 1 this season.

He has bagged just two goals in 34 games (Transfermarkt) – a really poor return for an attacking player.

In my view, the only mistake the Hammers have made here is not letting him go sooner.

The West Ham owners got plenty of stick from the fans at the time for not tying Holland down to a new deal. However, it was clear to see that he wasn’t good enough to make it at the Premier League level.

He’s 24 after all, not like he’s 17 or 18 is it?

Nathan Holland was an exciting talent when he was a teenager, and many West Ham United fans had really high hopes for him.

As is so often the case with young footballers though, he proved that he didn’t quite have that special sauce needed to make it at the very highest level of the game. I wish him well at MK Dons but unfortunately for him, he has flattered to deceive during his debut campaign with the Buckinghamshire outfit.

West Ham transfer news: Bad news for Hammers with ‘incredible’ 27-year-old reportedly intrigued by chance to join AC Milan.

According to a report from 90 Min, Chelsea ace Ruben Loftus-Cheek is keen to join AC Milan in the summer transfer window, in spite of the interest in his services from West Ham.

That is obviously a big blow for the Hammers, with David Moyes thought to be keen to bring the 27-year-old Chelsea star to the London Stadium at the end of the season.

Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central midfield ranks at West Ham in the summer window, and Loftus-Cheek would have been the ideal signing for us as far as I’m concerned.

AC Milan seems to be the clear favorite for the 10-capped England international’s signature though…

West Ham transfer news: Loftus-Cheek pursuit hits problems

90 Min reckons that the 27-year-old is keen for a reunion with Fikayo Tomori at the San Siro this summer.

The former Chelsea center-back has apparently spoken very highly indeed about Milan when Loftus-Cheek asked him what life is like with the Rossoneri.

That’s a real shame for West Ham. Loftus-Cheek’s power, energy, dynamism, and versatility would have taken us to a whole new level next season in my opinion.

The Englishman is a supremely talented central midfielder, and I think everyone will see the best of him when he is given regular game-time away from Chelsea.

Described by The Sun as an incredible player, the 27-year-old Chelsea ace would be a superb signing for West Ham.

However, AC Milan’s interest and Loftus-Cheek’s reported excitement at the idea of joining the Italian giants means that the Hammers will have our work cut out.

Let’s hope that we make the Chelsea star an offer that he can’t refuse. He would be such a strong addition to us in the summer transfer window. With plenty of West Ham transfer news already floating about, this is one that I think we should all be keeping an eye on the closest.
