report – West Ham has made a move to bring in a new manager

Shock report claims West Ham has initiated contact to bring St Louis sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel to the London Stadium.

Lutz Pfannenstiel was recently linked with the Sporting Director post at West Ham.

It seemed like a rather bizarre report at the time, considering the fact that Mark Noble only began his role as Sporting Director at the London Stadium in January of this year.

The 35-year-old ex-Hammers skipper has already been getting stuck into his task by making multiple calls regarding potential transfers this summer.

So with that in mind, West Ham bringing in Pfannenstiel, 49, wouldn’t make much sense, would it? Unless of course, the club has a different type of role lined up for the German…

West Ham initiate contact to bring Lutz Pfannenstiel to London Stadium

According to a report from Sport BILD, the Hammers have made an ‘official request’ to prise the 49-year-old Sporting Director away from MLS club St Louis City.

Pfannenstiel has worked wonders with St Louis in the MLS.

The Missouri outfit is currently sitting at the top of the Western Conference MLS table after some fantastic summer recruitment.

As mentioned earlier though, I really can’t see this one being true, unless West Ham wants the former professional goalkeeper to work alongside Noble or in a different role entirely.

Whether Noble is the right man for the job or not is not yet clear. Personally, I don’t think he is, as he has zero experience in the field. However, the least that he deserves is a chance to prove himself.

I have heard very good things about Lutz Pfannenstiel and what he has done with Dusseldorf and now St Louis City.

I just can’t see him swapping Missouri for East London just yet.

The gulf in spending power is clear for all to see as Newcastle makes £70m offer for 26-year-old West Ham target ahead of the summer transfer window

The sheer gulf in spending power between West Ham and Newcastle is clear for all to see after the Magpies reportedly made a £70 million offer for Raphinha ahead of the summer transfer window.

West Ham target Raphinha could be Newcastle bound this summer after the Toon made a formal offer for the Barcelona ace, according to a report from Sport.

Hammers boss David Moyes has been linked with a move to bring the 26-year-old winger to the London Stadium numerous times over the past 18 months.

At the time, West Ham either didn’t offer what Leeds was looking for, or the bids were pure ‘phantom’ offers.

The Brazilian went on to join Barcelona, but a return to the Premier League could well be on the cards for him in the summer…

Newcastle could blow West Ham out of the water with summer transfer window Raphinha swoop

The ex-Leeds attacker is on the radar of the Toon.

In fact, Sport is reporting that Newcastle has already ‘verbally communicated’ an offer worth €80 million (£70 million) for Raphinha.

What a signing the Brazilian would be for Newcastle, and at the same time, it will be a harsh reminder for the West Ham fans just what we are competing with.

The gulf in spending power between the two clubs is incredibly vast and the only way we will be able to compete next season and beyond is with superior thinking, more dynamic coaching, and an innovative footballing philosophy – much like how Brighton approaches things.

The problem with that is that we have David Moyes as our manager, Mark Noble as our Sporting Director, and David Sullivan as the majority shareholder.

There are no elite, innovative thinkers in that bunch, as harsh as that might sound.

Newcastle signing Raphinha in the summer transfer window will highlight just how much the landscape in the Premier League has changed over the past year or two. And West Ham needs to be on the ball to avoid getting left behind.
