Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Liverpool utility man James Milner when the summer transfer window opens.
According to 90Min, Brighton is leading the chase, but Forest and Leeds United are also in the mix for his signature.
The Reds will likely target quality over quantity next summer after signing 30 players since winning the promotion.
Forest’s transfer business will be largely dependent on what division they’re in, with survival very much in the balance at the moment.
Brighton is keen to get this deal in the bag but it’s far from completed yet, with other clubs weighing up a move.
Forest and Leeds would like Milner to wait until the end of the campaign before making any concrete decision.
The experienced player has been a remarkable servant to Liverpool.
He arrived in 2015 from Manchester City and has helped win the Premier League and Champions League during his time at the club.
Milner has played pretty much every position on the pitch for Jurgen Klopp and the manager has previously called him incredible.
In total, he has made 328 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 26 goals and claiming 46 assists.
Milner’s appearance haul is all the more impressive in the Premier League, with 615 under his belt.
The versatile performer burst onto the scene as a teenager with Leeds before playing for Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Forest is keen to sign Milner but Brighton leads the way
Forest will be hoping and praying that Milner decided to wait until the season has finished before making his decision.
The Reds will target some quality additions in the summer and Milner could prove a useful player.
Even at 37 years old, the man with 61 England caps would have something to offer, especially given his fitness record.
Forest has struggled with a number of fitness issues this season but Milner is still fit as a fiddle and that would be a good thing.
It’s perhaps a long shot that Forest will beat Brighton to Milner’s signature.
However, this does perhaps suggest that the club will be more meticulous in their transfer approach, eyeing quality over quantity next time around.
