Latest Leicester City transfer news from LeicestershireLive as Anthony Patterson remains on the radar

Leicester City reportedly holds the “strongest” interest to sign Sunderland shot-stopper Anthony Patterson.

The 22-year-old has been on the radar for some time, with the club looking to sign a new number one following Kasper Schmeichel’s exit last summer. Recent reports claimed that Leicester was “preparing a formal offer” for Patterson ahead of the summer window.

He has caught the eye with stand-out performances for the Black Cats in the Championship. But City isn’t the only Premier League side to have been credited with an interest.

However, The Northern Echo claims the Foxes “appear to have the strongest interest at this stage” to complete a transfer. Leicester had initially made Danny Ward their first choice following the departure of Schmeichel, but Daniel Iversen has since taken over in the last eight games.

A potential arrival from Patterson could provide further competition or an opportunity could present for Iversen to go back out on loan, while Ward could move on.

Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as the Foxes plan for next season if they can stay in the Premier League

Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma.

The Colombian is coming to the end of his contract at the end of the season, after joining in 2018. He has been an ever-present player in the squad and the Cherries are keen to extend his stay.

However, Lerma is said to be “exploring his options,” according to Team Talk. Along with Leicester, the 28-year-old has interest from France (Lille and Nice), Spain (Real Betis and Villarreal), and England (Crystal Palace, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham).

However, interest from City and Forest will lie entirely on whether they can preserve their Premier League status this season.

Asked about Lerma’s future, Cherries boss Gary O’Neill said: “No decision made at the moment, as far as I’m aware, so hopefully he’ll be here. I think you’ve seen in Jeff’s performances that there was just no doubt that he was fully committed to the cause.

“So now that the relegation stuff is all but beyond us, then hopefully we can start to put something in place where he stays, but no confirmation either way.
