Tottenham has to pay €25 million to sign a world-class midfielder

Tottenham will have to pay €25 million to sign Franck Kessie after an inquiry from the North Londoners for the Barcelona midfielder.

According to Sport, Barcelona could sell Franck Kessie for €25 million, with Tottenham enquiring. The Ivorian midfielder could become a casualty in the summer as the Catalans sort out their financial mess, with a sale of the midfielder likely.

Barcelona has many big decisions to make ahead of the summer window. To have parity, the club must raise considerable funds and cull its wage bill before June 30. The main priority will circle around strengthening their squad, but without financial balancing bringing in new players will prove impossible.

Several players on their squad could see the exit door in the summer. Barcelona already plans to inform those stars about their decision after winning the La Liga title. One of them is Franck Kessie, with the Ivorian particularly a solid prospect for his Bosman arrival.

Any proceeds from his sale will reflect highly on Barcelona’s books so that the Catalans will take the interest seriously. Many clubs are interested, including Aston Villa, who have the backing of new Sporting director Mateu Alemany.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been keen on the €25 million-rated Barcelona star, as they have already enquired. The Catalans have named their price, and a deal could materialize for the north Londoners, who seek midfield reinforcements.

Kessie’s profile makes him an interesting player from Tottenham’s perspective. They have been interested for some time but are not alone in chasing the €25 million-rated Barcelona star. Juventus and Inter Milan are also potential suitors, per the report, but the Catalans are not interested in doing business with Italian clubs.

Juventus reportedly considered a part-exchange deal involving Denis Zakaria. However, Barcelona wants a full cash operation and feels they can get a good deal from Premier League sides. Tottenham seems closer now than the others, but much will depend on other offers.

Considering Tottenham could miss out on the top four, Kessie might prefer to join a Champions League side if an offer comes. He might consider Spurs for the glamour of London life, but his head could turn away for top tier European football.
