Tottenham Hotspur star players has been ruled out against Aston Villa clash due to injury

Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive brings the latest injury news around the Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of their upcoming clash at Villa Park

Tottenham Hotspur could have four players ruled out for their clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Unai Emery’s side lost ground in the race for the European places on Saturday with a disappointing defeat to Wolves. Villa is now three points behind Spurs in sixth and will be hoping to pull themselves back into the European places with a crucial win next weekend.

Ryan Mason’s side had lost three of their last four before gaining their first win in five games against Crystal Palace on Saturday. However, the Spurs were dealt a late injury blow in that game and could be without several other players in their upcoming game at B6.

Clement Lenglet was substituted in the 88th minute with a shoulder issue, being replaced by Eric Dier. Interim boss Mason provided an update after the final whistle: “He had a shoulder problem, you could probably see. Hopefully nothing too serious, too bad,” he said.

“He got treatment on the pitch, it was late on in the game, it was a set piece and we didn’t really want to lose a central defender to defend a set piece so we made that change.”

Mason has already confirmed that both Ryan Sessegnon and Hugo Lloris will miss the remainder of the season. Sessegnon suffered a hamstring injury in February, while Lloris picked up a muscle issue and was substituted at half-time in Spurs’ 6-1 defeat to Newcastle.

“Hugo’s out for the season. We had the results back,” Mason said, ahead of the Palace game. “Obviously disappointing, but we kind of feared that initially. We did some more tests and he won’t play for us again this season.”

Elsewhere, Rodrigo Bentancur has been making progress after undergoing surgery on the cruciate ligament injury he suffered in February. The Spurs boss has been unwilling to set a return date but reports have suggested that Bentancur will also miss the final three games of the campaign.
