Maverick former Newcastle striker Faustino Asprilla, renowned for his appetite for sex, has been spotted back at one of his former clubs with a megaphone while leading a group of ultras
Faustino Asprilla’s wildlife has taken another bizarre turn after he was spotted leading chants in front of a group of ultras.
The Colombian is best known in England for his two-and-a-half spell with Newcastle United in the late 1990s, which featured a stunning hat-trick against Barcelona in the Champions League.
But before his £6.75m move to the north-east under Kevin Keegan, he was an icon at Italian side Parma, formerly one of the top clubs in Italy but now in Serie B. Eager to get behind his old side, he has been spotted at a match, but in Asprilla fashion he wasn’t quaffing champagne in the VIP area.
Instead, he was in the thick of the club’s most passionate supporters during their game against Brescia on Sunday. Not only that, he had commandeered a megaphone and was leading a chant as the action went on behind him.
The scene should be no surprise for anyone who remembers the maverick striker’s playing career. And his life since hanging up his boots has seemingly been even wilder. Now 53, Asprilla makes no secret of his love of sex. He even has his own business selling condoms.
Opening up on his life these days, he told the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport last year: “Football for me has always been fun. No rules, no schemes.
“How am I doing nowadays? I’m excellent. I have a farm, I sell sugar cane to the Colombian government, and through an advertising campaign, I sell condoms.
“You know, sex has always been important to me. I am Asprilla: lots of sex, no rules, and pure life.”
His passion for bonking even led to an approach for him to become a porn star. The Sun reported in 2018 that Asprilla had been offered 20 million pesos, about £6,500, by producers in his native Colombia for a one-week contract.
Asprilla said that producers had told him that they were “convinced that with a little training, you could exploit another talent all of Colombia knows you have”. However, he is said to have turned down the offer.
