Newcastle United is really serious about signing Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig this summer, according to Nemzeti Sport in his native Hungary.

It’s stated that Newcastle’s interest goes beyond the usual transfer window speculation and they really do want to bring Szoboszlai to Tyneside.

The report claims that Newcastle is willing to offer huge money to Szoboszlai in order to tempt him into signing.

A salary of around £10million-a-year is mentioned, which works out to around £ 190,000 a week.

That would be a sensational offer for Szoboszlai, who isn’t earning anywhere near that kind of money at RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga side allegedly wants around €70million (£ 61 million) for Szoboszlai, a fee Newcastle may be willing to pay upon Champions League qualification.

The report adds that Szoboszlai is the number one target for Newcastle as they seek to add another playmaker.

Dominik Szoboszlai could be ahead of James Maddison in Newcastle United’s plans

Links to another number 10 are very interesting because of repeated rumors linking Newcastle with James Maddison.

The Leicester City star has been wanted by Newcastle for a long time now and summer interest wouldn’t be a shock.

Yet Szoboszlai offers another option, somebody in the mold of Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes, or Alexander Isak in terms of being a top talent in Europe.

Newcastle has mostly focused on signing players with Premier League experience but has splashed the cash on the truly top talents.

Szoboszlai would fit that bill having racked up seven goals and 13 assists in 42 games for RB Leipzig this season.

Still only 22, Szoboszlai has been hailed as ‘special’ by Jesse Marsch and could be the long-term playmaking talent Newcastle really wants to become even better going forward.
