Stan Collmore has predicted the result of West Ham United’s Premier League clash against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.

West Ham are looking to secure their Premier League status ahead of Thursday’s crunch Conference League second leg against AZ Alkmaar.

Collymore has predicted an entertaining affair with the Hammers and the Bees “having a really good go at each other”.

“The Hammers are safe and Brentford are middling, so will both have a really good go at each other,” said Collymore (The Sunday People, pg 54, 14 May).

Fun in the sun

West Ham are extremely close to securing their Premier League status, in fact, there’s almost no chance of the Hammers being relegated. Therefore, this fixture has very little riding on it. David Moyes will likely ring the changes heading into the clash against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

The Conference League is now the priority for the West Ham boss and he will be eager to end the season with a piece of silverware. Questions still remain over his future at the club, but the board could well look to extend his stay at the London Stadium if West Ham ends the season qualifying for the Europa League and with a trophy

It’s certainly been a hectic season for the Scot. He’s found himself under considerable pressure at various points. The board’s patience has been rewarded with the Hammers ending the season in decent form. If Moyes does remain it’s absolutely essential he steers the Irons back into the top ten. Another slow start could see him finally pay with his job.

West Ham United news as Union Berlin braced for Sheraldo Becker transfer offer

Union Berlin is braced for transfer offers from West Ham United and two other English clubs for striker Sheraldo Becker, according to the Daily Mail.

The £ 15 million valued Suriname international has been a shining light for Union Berlin this season, scoring 12 goals and providing a further 10 assists from 46 appearances.

David Moyes’ side, as well as Fulham and Burnley, are among the clubs who have been alerted by Becker’s strong form this campaign.

The attacker is contracted with the German side until 2024, and there is an acceptance that the upcoming transfer window is the last available opportunity to receive a healthy transfer fee for his services.

Although West Ham United have all but confirmed their Premier League survival, there is still a desperate need to shake things up in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers shouldn’t be short of money if Declan Rice leaves the London Stadium for a Champions League club this summer, and at £ 15 million, Becker represents a decent use of such money.

The striker has been a key cog of Union Berlin’s remarkable Bundesliga rise this season, which is on course for them to qualify for the Champions League.

Becker highlighted his class last weekend, scoring twice and providing two assists in the 4-2 win over fifth-placed Freiburg, which was a crucial victory in their race for European football next season.

The Daily Mail wrote that the attacker is “tailor-made” for Premier League football, and it is hard to argue with this fact.

Danny Ings and Michail Antonio are currently the only two options Moyes can call upon to lead the line, and a player of Becker’s ilk could be a shrewd addition to the first-team ranks.
