Super Computer makes new Everton relegation prediction

Despite Sunday’s 0-3 loss to Manchester City, Everton has been predicted to avoid relegation to the Championship according to a supercomputer.

The Toffees currently occupy 17th place in the Premier League table, one point above the relegation zone, but that could change depending on the outcome of the fixture on Monday evening between Leicester City and Liverpool.

FiveThirtyEight (14 May) has indicated that Sean Dyche’s side has a 70% chance of survival after the latest round of fixtures as the campaign moves closer to its conclusion.

With 32 points on the board as things stand, in reality, the supercomputer has predicted one win out of the two final games, away to Wolves and home to Bournemouth, respectively.

Regardless of how such a situation would unfold, all Evertonians would be very content if the season does finish with the club’s top-flight status still intact.

Sunday’s challenge against the champions-elect, Manchester City, was always going to be an uphill task in terms of taking any points.

The loss is not fatal, far from it, as the Toffees now face two very winnable games against opponents in the comfort zone of security with nothing to play for in a competitive sense.

Both Wolves and Bournemouth suffered defeats on Saturday, to reinforce that point, in what is a slight advantage for Everton in the relegation battle.

With Leeds facing West Ham and Tottenham, the supercomputer predicts them to pick up just two further points which would mean an 18th-place finish whilst Leicester are tipped to secure another three points from their final three fixtures for a berth in 19th.

If that turns out to be the case, Goodison will be a sea of relief and joy when the final whistle blows on this arduous, fractious campaign.
