Report: 30-year-old goalkeeper wants Nottingham Forest to try and sign him again

Anderlecht goalkeeper Hendrick van Crombrugge wants Nottingham Forest to try and sign him again during the summer.

The 30-year-old was in the sights of Forest back in January as they sought a replacement for Dean Henderson.

Forest’s goalie had suffered a thigh injury during a game against Leicester and the Reds frantically scoured the market for a replacement.

The player has been speaking with Voetbal 24 about his future and it seems as though he’d welcome a second approach from Forest.

It was the goalkeeper who ultimately rejected the chance to sign terms at the City Ground.

The player was reluctant to leave for England and force his family into a huge move at the midway point of the 2022/23 campaign.

Van Crombrugge has made 17 appearances in the league this season, captaining the side when he’s been called upon.

Since the turn of the year, however, he’s lost his place in the team and perhaps now he’s wishing that he’d chosen to sign for the Reds.

Now it seems as though he’d like a move to Forest this summer and has opened up on his failed move.

He told Voetbal 24: “If you are treated like that…Then it strikes deep wounds.

“But should Nottingham (Forest) come back at the end of the season, I would certainly think about it.”

Van Crombrugge wants Forest move

It does appear as though the player has been treated a little bit unfairly by Anderlecht and it’s easy to see why he’d like to move.

Forest will be in the market for a new goalkeeper when the summer transfer window opens regardless of the division they’ll be in.

Dean Henderson will return to Manchester United, whilst Keylor Navas will head back to PSG.

Van Crombrugge is vastly experienced and also has a Belgium cap to his name which he collected in 2020.

At 30, the goalkeeper still has plenty of time on his side and if a deal could be struck, this would represent a pretty low-risk option for the Reds.
