Mark Lawrenson disagrees with Chris Sutton about Nottingham Forest fate ahead of Arsenal clash

Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as Chris Sutton disagrees with Mark Lawrenson about the Reds’ Premier League game against Arsenal at the City Ground

Pundit Mark Lawrenson thinks Nottingham Forest will lose to Arsenal at the City Ground on Saturday evening.

The Premier League title is effectively out of Arsenal’s grasp, with Manchester City cruising to the trophy, but Lawrenson does not believe the Gunners will down tools at the City Ground.

In fact, he thinks the opposite will be true, with Arsenal being allowed to play with freedom against Forest. That could prove dangerous for Steve Cooper’s men, with Lawrenson predicting a 2-0 win for the visitors.

Lawrenson told Paddy Power: “Arsenal can just go out and play with a little bit of freedom because the title’s gone and the worst they can do is finish second. I expect they’ll win this. Nottingham Forest 0-2 Arsenal.”

Lawrenson, therefore, disagrees with fellow pundit Chris Sutton, who has backed Forest to pick up a 1-1 draw. He said : “Because of Nottingham Forest’s position, you know that they are going to really scrap for everything without having to throw caution to the wind, because their fate is in their own hands.

“At home is where it happens for them and while I don’t think it will be a particularly pretty game, I can see Forest finding a way of picking up another point.”

Arsenal will lose the title even if they win as long as Manchester City also wins their game as both clubs continue to chase each other.

Mikel Arteta’s men have ended the season in the Champions League places, which was their original goal.

However, they made fans believe they could win the league and are expected now to win their remaining two games of the season.

Nottingham Forest is fighting for their Premier League safety and the game is a must-win for them. Lescott sees them taking a point from the fixture. He predicts a 1-1 draw on Livescore and said:

“Arsenal’s defeat to Brighton will have been a crushing blow for Mikel Arteta and it doesn’t get much easier with a trip to a Nottingham Forest side who are fighting for their lives.

“Steve Cooper’s men have picked up some impressive results at the City Ground it would not surprise me to see the Gunners drop more points here.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

We have to end this season well, which means winning our remaining matches of the campaign and must beat Forest.

The game will be tough, but it is ideal for us to get back to winning ways.
