Sean Dyche has explained what Everton’s majority shareholder messages him about

Farhad Moshiri is in regular contact with Sean Dyche but the pair stick to footballing matters only, the Blues boss said.

Everton’s majority shareholder seeks out injury news and offers his verdict on performances in his correspondence with Dyche. Conversations do not spill into the wider uncertainty around the club, however.

Amid the latest claims surrounding Everton’s future, Dyche said his concerns were solely related on what was happening on the pitch.

Reports this week have linked Everton to both a full takeover by 777 Partners and smaller investment by MSP. Moshiri has previously insisted the club is not for sale but has been open about his search for investment, particularly in relation the financing of the new waterfront stadium development.

Dyche is aware of Moshiri’s hunt for investment but said the pair do not discuss it. He said of contact between them: “There have been a few messages, a couple of phone calls here and there. He just gives support, really. He wished us well before one game here, told us we had played well. He asks about injuries, he’s worried about the players, asking how they are – that kind of dialogue. There is nothing about anything bigger than that, certainly not investors. That’s certainly nothing I can control.”

Asked whether speculation about the future of the club had any impact on him – and his plans for the club’s summer – Dyche stressed his mind was firmly focused on keeping Everton in the Premier League. He said: “The immediacy is what is going on now with the team. That is the immediacy. The other stuff, I can’t govern what is going on there. It’s a longer story. Until anything changes, I don’t know any different. I will continue with what we have got and what we are looking to achieve in the next two games. Beyond that is a different matter. Mr Moshiri went out and said he was looking for investment – he has been, clearly.”
