The 25-year-old is emerging as a key target for a host of clubs heading into the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa also among the teams keen on him.

Leicester are in danger of relegation heading into the final day of the season.

As such, they will struggle to keep hold of Barnes, who has one England cap, if they are consigned to the Championship.

But even if they do avoid the drop, the club’s resolve to keep Barnes is likely to be tested by a number of top-flight sides.

Leicester will find it hard to resist offers in the region of £ 50 million for Barnes, who came through the club’s academy, even if they retain their top-flight status this Sunday.

However, that fee is likely to be less if they are relegated.

West Ham are set to be active in the transfer market this summer with the club expected to sell captain Declan Rice for a fee of close to £ 100 million.

Barnes is among the players the club has identified as a potential incoming.

While the Hammers are also interested in acquiring Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
