Report: West Ham has just informed Fulham what they’re willing to pay for Joao Palhinha

Arsenal joins several clubs chasing defensive midfielder - Just Arsenal News

West Ham have informed Fulham of the fee that they are prepared to pay to sign Joao Palhinha this summer.

According to a report from The Sun, Fulham star Joao Palhinha is firmly on the radar of West Ham ahead of the summer transfer window.

The East London outfit was first linked with a move to sign the 27-year-old midfielder only yesterday.

Hammers manager David Moyes clearly needs to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium this summer, with Declan Rice expected to move on.

And Palhinha seems to be one of the names on Moyes’s wish list as the summer transfer window fast approaches…

West Ham has just informed Fulham what they’re willing to pay for Joao Palhinha

The Sun reckons that the Hammers have told the Cottagers that they’re willing to pay £40 million to sign the 20-capped Portugal international this summer.

However, Fulham are believed to be demanding around £50 million for the 27-year-old defensive midfielder.

I think that if Moyes is able to sign him for £40 million, he should do it. However, £50 million just sounds like too much money to me – he’ll be 28 in July after all.

Still, Palhinha is a very good player and would be a very strong signing for the Hammers if we manage to get this one done.

In 34 Premier League appearances since joining Fulham, the 27-year-old has scored three goals and has averaged 4.2 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 1.7 clearances per match. He has made 36.3 passes per match on average and has recorded a completion rate of 83.1% (Who Scored).

Joao Palhinha is a truly fantastic defensive midfielder and would be a super signing for West Ham. He has already proven that he possesses all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.

If West Ham sells Declan Rice and replaces him with Joao Palhinha and someone like Khephren Thuram or Teun Koopmeiners, then I think we’ll be in business.
