G8R8FR Everton v Chelsea - Emirates FA Cup - Quarter Final - Goodison Park

Everton has secured a “substantial” loan to help cover the cost of their new Bramley Moore Dock Stadium development, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Work has been underway on a new home for the Toffees since July 2021, with a 52,888-seater stadium being constructed ahead of its opening before the 2024/25 campaign.

The financing of the ground has been in the spotlight in recent weeks with reports Everton has entered into an exclusivity agreement with MSP Sports Capital, according to Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers.

And according to the Mail on Sunday newspaper [28 May, page 109], Everton owner Farhad Moshiri completed a deal this week through Ormskirk-based venture capital company Blythe Capital to secure funding.

Blythe Capital is owned by Andrew Bell, founder of investment platform AJ Bell, who is believed to be an Everton season ticket holder. It is understood Blythe is acting as the broker and are not putting in cash themselves.

“Sources close to the club believe Moshiri has committed £450million to the new stadium, leaving a £300million funding shortfall.”

No blowback

With the number of loans Moshiri is investing into this new stadium development, fans, and the Everton hierarchy must be praying there isn’t any potential blowback on the club’s finances in the long haul.

We already know the damage relegation could have on Everton football club, and that could even rapidly affect the amount of revenue they acquire from the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium development.

It will simply be no use moving into such a modernized and exciting new build if they are fighting down in the Championship making their final-day match against Bournemouth so crucial to their future.

It is a win-at-all-costs game as relegation could simply plunge Everton football club into more and more financial difficulty, affecting their stadium development work and the funding for it.

Their Premier League plight is really in their hands, just imagine the pull the new stadium development will have when it opens and the club continues its long-held status as an English top-flight club. That thought must be ingrained in the minds of everyone associated with such a prestigious and historic club.
