Nottingham Forest striker Andre Ayew is now emerging as a target for newly-promoted outfit Luton Town. The Hatters reached the Premier League for the first time yesterday, beating Coventry City at Wembley Stadium.
Ayew hasn’t really worked out at Forest since he signed in February. According to Ghana Web, the international captain is now a wanted man and he could get the chance to stay in the Premier League.
It’s easy to work out why Forest chose to sign Ayew. The squad was somewhat light in attack Steve Cooper worked with the versatile forward during his time managing Swansea City.
The 33-year-old has largely been frustrating though. He’s made 12 appearances for the Reds, totaling just 306 minutes on the pitch, and hasn’t registered a single-goal contribution for the team.
Ayew was signed on a free transfer and he will be out of contract during the summer. With Forest now guaranteed their Premier League status the squad will once again be rebuilt when the window reopens
Luton will have to cut their cloth accordingly next season. A large chunk of their new riches will have to go on getting Kenilworth Road up to scratch ready for the demands of the top-flight.

The Reds will certainly not be singing in excess of 20 new players during the summer transfer window. That’s what they did last summer after promotion and now Luton will experience the need for new players.
The squad in place at Kenilworth Road is relatively young and some experience will be needed. Ayew would supply that in bucket loads and with a run of games, he could be capable of scoring goals still.
The forest is right not to be offering Ayew a new deal. In truth, he’s never really looked like scoring this season and he also missed a penalty during a 3-1 defeat against Tottenham in March.
The Reds will wish Ayew well after today’s game against Crystal Palace. He will then be free to find himself a new club, with Luton now firmly in the race to take him from the City Ground.
