Done deal: Everton agrees terms with Welsh midfielder Liam Higgins
Everton Under-21s ace Liam Higgins has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
The 20-year-old is now under contract with the Toffees until the end of June 2024.
The Welshman joined the club’s academy at the age of 15 and is capable of operating as both a winger and full-back.
“Everton Under-21s midfielder Liam Higgins has signed a new one-year contract until the end of June 2024,” a statement from the official Everton website read.
Higgins commented: “I’m really excited. I have had a couple of tough seasons but now I can’t wait to get another chance with this club.”
Of course, any new deals at the Toffees were always going to be put on hold until the final ball of the Premier League season was kicked, with this deal for Higgins perhaps representing one of many to take place in the coming weeks at Goodison Park.
The 20-year-old has been with the Toffees for quite some time, with his hard work on and off the pitch now rewarded with a new deal.
The youngster impressed for the Under-21s in his injury-hit campaign with a handful of goals and assists, and has perhaps already caught the eye of first-team manager Sean Dyche, who has shown he is not afraid to give young players a chance in the senior squad.
Now it will all be about kicking on and progressing for the Merseyside outfit for Higgins, who could be handed first-team opportunities when the club returns for pre-season this summer.
