Jarrad Branthwaite to be offered new Everton contract after successful PSV Eindhoven loan

Everton is expected to offer youngster Jarrad Branthwaite a new contract at Goodison Park after his successful loan spell at PSV Eindhoven.

The central defender penned an extension last summer before joining the Dutch side on a season-long loan, where he made 35 first-team appearances and helped them to a cup double.

But with several clubs interested in a permanent transfer for Branthwaite this summer, the Daily Mail (29 May) reports that the Toffees want to reward him with a new contract.

Everton

“Yerry Mina has already said his farewell to fans via Instagram as his contract ends but Jarrad Branthwaite, who has impressed on loan at PSV Eindhoven, is expected to be offered a new contract,” they wrote.

Perfect

This is exactly what the loan system is for and Branthwaite has proven that he is ready to step up into the first-team proper at Everton next season.

After being given a try by Frank Lampard he failed to impress and was farmed out for more experience, but he ended up playing European football and became a regular for a team that was chasing trophies and titles.

It’s no surprise that PSV wants to keep him but Everton holds all the cards and is demanding a high fee, which has managed to deter some parties.

With Yerry Mina leaving the club on a free transfer and the future of Conor Coady up in the air, there is certainly going to be a free spot in defense for Branthwaite to step in and fill to start competing.

Fans will love that academy players are getting a clear path to progress into the first-team now and if he is good enough as many believe him to be, then there’s no reason he can’t be here for a large chunk of his career.
