Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra is subject to a release clause this summer after the side were relegated to the Championship.
With a couple of months between now and the start of the Championship season, there is a lot of business to attend to with regard to transfers in and out of the club.
Leeds is going to need a great deal of investment to bulk out the squad because they’re bound to be losing a good number of their current side.
Will Luis Sinisterra leave?
A £ 21 million move from Feyenoord in the summer promised big things from Luis Sinisterra, but an injury in pre-season teed us up for a disappointing campaign from the winger.
Injuries throughout 2022/23 stopped him from really showcasing his best form, but he still came out of the campaign as Leeds’ joint-second top scorer in the Premier League with five goals (seven in all competitions).
The Colombian international has demonstrated ability well beyond the Championship, but constant setbacks might scupper any concrete interest.
Does he have a release clause?
The Athletic’s Phil Hay has now shared that the winger does also have a release clause in his contract following relegation.
It means that another club would be able to bypass Leeds in discussions to sign him, by offering the “amount set and skipping straight to player talks:
His obvious talent has been overshadowed by a real struggle to stay fit. When Feyenoord sold him to Leeds last summer, they reckoned the Colombia international would take time to adapt to the physical demands of the Premier League.
“A total of 13 starts in the division out of 38 says something about the challenge of transition. Fully fit, the 23-year-old should be dynamite in the Championship. But unless his injuries are too much of a concern, you suspect someone will try to take him off Leeds’ hands — and that Sinisterra will be off.
“He is also subject to a release clause.”
