List of Leicester manager candidates out in the open as one name is a major surprise with a certain favourite singled out

In April we all got surprised to see Martin O’Neill among the candidates to be on a list of possible interim options to consider. Where it all came from, who knows, but the odds were out and this time around other former Leicester managers also make the list.

Claudio Ranieri is 4/1, and surprising to see him here as the 71 years ended last season in 5th place in Serie B with Cagliari, joining the club earlier in the season. His contract is running to 2025.

Dean Smith is 11/8, 42,1% in probability. This makes him a favorite, as his work over a season would have seen Leicester safe, bringing in 9 points out of a possible 24, but with a number of difficult games in the hat against teams such as Liverpool and Man City, Smith had not much time to get things rolling and winning the last game of the season at home to West Ham must be seen as a very good result.

You also have Jesse March on this list, even though, said to have turned down the opportunity to take the job earlier, declining the offer and still waiting on his next call.

Graham Potter is another name, but his probability percentage has been reduced to 7,7%. Not much in the talk of Jon Dahl Tomassen either, seeing him on 5,9%.

There is no place for candidates such as Frank Lampard, Patrick Vieira, and Scott Parker. Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna and Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher are not on the list, earlier said to be possible candidates.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou and Steven Gerrard make the list, with the former Liverpool, Rangers, and Aston Villa boss being listed at 14,3%, one place behind Nigel Pearson at 16,7%.

TCF would consider this list as one having the next manager at Leicester City on it, and not surprised if Dean Smith will be given the job permanently. He is one that can do it as his previous work at Aston Villa counts.
