Asmir Begovic appears to have confirmed his exit from Everton with a heartfelt “thank you” message to supporters.

The goalkeeper’s contract at Goodison Park will expire at the end of June.

The Bosnian has made 10 appearances for the club since joining from Bournemouth two years ago.

“To all Evertonians, thank you for the last two years and letting me be part of your club and embracing me as one of your own,” Begovic wrote on Twitter.

“It has been a pleasure to represent you all and be a part of your whole community. To all of the staff, players, and most importantly the fans, thank you and all the very best. Up the Toffees.”

Fond farewell

Begovic’s exit won’t exactly dominate the headlines at Goodison Park in the summer transfer window, with Toffees fans undoubtedly more excited about which players Sean Dyche will be bringing to Goodison Park as opposed to who will be leaving.

Even in that latter category, it is the exits of central defenders Yerry Mina and Conor Coady that supporters have been focusing on lately.

And that is simply because Begovic didn’t get much playing time at all during his two years at Goodison Park, with the Bosnian playing back-up to Toffees number one Jordan Pickford.

The England international didn’t drop his standards as those around him at Everton struggled, with the club’s lack of progress in the various cup competitions also resulting in regular bench time for Begovic.

Still, he would have been a great figure to have in and around Goodison Park given his invaluable experience from several years of playing in the Premier League.
