Everton and West Ham could be braced to battle it out in the boardroom in an attempt to beat each other in the race to land Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson in the upcoming transfer window.

Johnson is valued at £ 40 million by Forest after his efforts helped keep Steve Cooper’s side in the Premier League.

Everton is keen to reinforce their squad during Sean Dyche‘s first summer in charge and has identified Johnson as a potential new addition.

Meanwhile, West Ham wants to lure the 22-year-old English talent to the London Stadium in the off-season following an impressive debut campaign in the top flight.

Johnson made 44 appearances in all competitions for Forest last season, scoring eight Premier League and two Carabao Cup goals.

The attacker rose up through Forest’s academy ranks before breaking into the first team and making his senior debut in the Championship four years ago.

He showcased his talents to traveling Everton supporters by scoring twice against the Toffees in a 2-2 draw at the City Ground in March.

His goals across all competitions saw Johnson finish the season as Forest’s second-highest top scorer behind Taiwo Awoniyi.

Meanwhile, West Ham’s transfer purse could be further strengthened if they win Wednesday’s Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina.
