According to the Athletic [08 June], Goodison Park appears to be a potential landing spot for the Scotland international with the Magpies also keen.

The 26-year-old has fallen in the pecking order at Old Trafford since the arrivals of Christian Eriksen and Marcel Sabitzer and may further be out of favour should Mason Mount arrive from Chelsea.

Can do better

McTominay is a decent midfield option who can put in a shift and be assertive whenever he needs to be but is not the most technically gifted players.

However, McTominay is not someone who’s capable of pulling the strings from deep and if Sean Dyche just wants him for his engine and to play box to box, then he can be a decent fit.

He does chip in with the occasional goal as well so he’s got that in his locker, but if the Toffees are being another midfielder, they perhaps need a different profile.

Most of their players in that area of the pitch are physical and mobile so it’s perhaps time they bring in someone creative and who can keep getting into the box and be a goal threat.

Given a recent transfer development, Idrissa Gueye also could be shown the door at Everton and if McTominay is perhaps seen as a potential option to replace him then it’s understandable.
