Timothy Castagne to Arsenal? Gunners kick off transfer talks following Leicester's relegation | Goal.com Nigeria

It’s hard to put a verb to Leicester City’s likely transfer activity this summer after the drop to the Championship, clear out, rebuild and reset don’t quite seem to cut it. The former would suggest that it’s Deadwood that is due to leave, but the Foxes are rather left with a bunch of high-paid players, most of which seem their level as way above that City which will be competing.

One of the first to publicly, and not very subtly, issue his desire to depart is Timothy Castagne. Judging by recent comments, he seems keen on a return to Serie A with Juventus. Speaking about his future while on international duty with Belgium, it appeared that a King Power stay was not even on the table for the full-back.

Instead, City’s No. 27 intimated that he’d hope to join a top club, suggesting that his agent was taking care of those proceedings while he was away with the Red Devils. Castagne’s willingness to move on will likely please everybody: himself to avoid the second tier, the buying club for attaining an asset for a cut price, and Leicester for shedding a high-earner off the books.

Of the full-backs at City’s disposal, The Belgian’s departure would make the most sense, with Luke Thomas and Victor Kristiansen likely to thrive in the Championship, and Premier League sides less inclined to take a chance on the injury-prone James Justin and Ricardo Pereira. The latter pair however will definitely be of interest to clubs around Europe, and it’s unlikely players good enough to achieve international caps for England and Portugal would be content with the second division.
