Davies played a bit-part role for the Toffees last season, making just 20 appearances in all competition for his boyhood club where he has been since the age of 11.

Football Transfers revealed on 15 June that the Toffees had offered the midfielder new terms on Merseyside with some guarantees of a suitable amount of appearances for the next campaign.

However, according to a new development, those terms have been rejected and the midfielder already has offers on the table elsewhere.

Joyce, taking to his personal Twitter account to report the news [22 June], tweeted: “Tom Davies has turned down a new contract from Everton and will leave the club on a free transfer.

“He wants regular first-team football and has a number of offers.”

New chapter needed

Despite arriving at the club as an 11-year-old and subsequently rising the ranks at Goodison Park, it is time for Davies to move on to a new chapter in his career.

Since Dyche’s arrival, the midfielder is yet to start a single game, with the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye, and James Garner all above him in the Everton pecking order.

A combination of ill-timed injuries and poor form have seen him barely feature over the last two seasons, and his struggles to cement a regular starting spot certainly means his time at Goodison Park is up.

It’s a shame to see how far his career has dropped, considering the impressive start to his Everton career he had when he came through the academy.

It’s safe to say that both parties have had a hand in his decline and it’s best for all involved that he goes in search of game time elsewhere to kick-start his development.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are in hot pursuit of one 35-cap international as his £ 17 million price tag is revealed.
