‘WHAT A SIGNING’: CHRIS SUTTON AND ROBBIE SAVAGE LAUD WHO NEWCASTLE ARE ABOUT TO BRING IN

Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage have praised Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United for closing in on a deal for AC Milan star, Sandro Tonali.

Newcastle hoping to push through club-record deal for AC Milan's Sandro Tonali

The 23-year-old has been one of the standout players in Serie A in recent seasons and a player that is growing into one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Europe.

That’s why Newcastle fans are excited by Sandro Tonali’s arrival, with Sutton and Savage sharing those same thoughts, as they told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport on 606.

It seems as though it will only be a matter of time before the Tonali deal is announced, with suggestions that they are paying £60 million for the Italy international.

Given that there is talk of Declan Rice possibly being sold for over £100 million, then this possible deal for Tonali looks even better for Newcastle.

It was briefly spoken about by Sutton and Savage, with the former adding that ‘players aren’t to blame’ for inflated prices in the transfer market.

“What a signing for Newcastle, Tonali,” said Savage to which Sutton responded: “I think that would represent a good signing.

“What you (speaking to a Newcastle fan) said about players and inflated prices. We all know, it’s not the players’ fault that – Tonali, on the face of it, looks like a good signing.”

Newcastle’s midfield

Last season, it was one of Newcastle’s strongest positions and a big reason why they reached the League Cup final and ended up securing a top-four finish.

The arrival of Tonali will only add more power, defensive bite, and ball-carrying ability to a midfield that now probably needs a mix of James Maddison added to it.

The relegated Leicester star would thrive at St James’ Park and with those sort of players, it’s just a case of whether they will put the money down on the table for the England international.
