New No. 1

Leicester City are “set to sign” Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen, it is claimed.

The Citizens’ shot-stopper spent last season on loan at Championship side Middlesborough where he played 44 times. He helped them reach the play-off semi-finals where they lost to Coventry City.

And the USA international crossed paths with new Foxes boss Enzo Maresca at the Etihad. Steffan was at the club when the Italian worked with the club’s youth team before becoming Pep Guardiola’s assistant last summer.

And talkSPORT claims that a deal to bring Steffen to the King Power Stadium this summer is close. The 28-year-old is adept at playing out from the back, which is presumably how Maresca will want his team to play next season.

Wolf packed

Leicester City are “closing in” on the signing of Wolves defender Conor Coady.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Everton, but the Premier League side rejected an option to buy him this summer, opening the door for Leicester to swoop.

According to the Mirror, City hopes to have the transfer “completed by this weekend” ahead of the player’s return to training at Seagrave on Monday. Leicester is said to have “beaten off strong Premier League competition” for the England international, something of a coup for Enzo Maresca who will be gaining a top-quality player and a proven leader on his hands.

It is said that Maresca ‘targeted’ Coady after Pep Guardiola made ‘complimentary remarks’ after the defender came up against his Manchester City teams. Maresca worked with Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium before leaving to take the job at Leicester.
