Duo leave Leicester after a combined 27 years of service
LEICESTER CITY first-team coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler has left the club after a combined 27 years of service following the arrival of Enzo Maresca as Head Coach.
The Italian was appointed 10 days ago and has brought in four staff with him:
Danny Walker (First-Team Coach)Michele De Bernardin (Goalkeeper Coach)Marcos Alvarez (Fitness Coach)Javier Molina Caballero (Analyst)
These arrivals have coincided with the exits of stalwarts Stowell and Sadler, along with Set Piece Coach Lars Knudsen. Stowell joined the Foxes in July 2005 as Goalkeeper Coach under Craig Levein and has been described as “a constant throughout the rise from League One to the heights of Premier League and FA Cup triumphs” by the club.
He was promoted to the dual role of Goalkeeper Coach/ First Team Coach under manager Nigel Pearson and has taken caretaker charge of the team on six separate occasions himself.
On Instagram, Kasper Schmeichel, who was Fox’s keeper for those Premier League and FA Cup triumphs, wrote: “I can’t thank Mike enough for what he’s done for me and my career.
“Both on and off the field he was always there for me. He’s been a huge part of all that was right about Leicester. See you soon.”

Sadler joined the club as Tactical Analyst under Pearson in 2014 and later saw his role extended to first-team coach. Alongside Stowell, he twice took caretaker charge of the side.
Leicester said Sadler’s “depth of knowledge and qualities as a coach” had proved “valuable assets for six different Leicester City managers during his nine years with the club.”
Knudsen joined in 2022 as a First Team Set Play Coach, having previously worked for FC Midtjylland in Denmark.
In a statement, the club added: “Leicester City extends its heartfelt gratitude to all three coaches for their invaluable commitment and contributions during their time with the club, and in particular to Mike and Adam, whose dedication and devotion during a combined 27 years of service has earned them the respect and friendship of colleagues past and present throughout the club.
“They have been integral parts of some of the most extraordinary moments in our history, which leave an indelible mark in the memories of all Leicester City supporters.
“As they embark on new chapters in their careers, we wish them every success in their future endeavors and look forward to welcoming them back to King Power Stadium as guests, opponents, and friends in the years to come.”
Maresca, who was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City last season, has brought a quartet of assistants with him to the club.
Walker, who takes on the role of First Team Coach, who was previously the Italian’s assistant with City’s U21s. Last season he was Peterborough United’s Senior Professional Development Phase Lead Coach.
Keeper coach De Bernardin arrives from Sampdoria and previously worked with Maresca at Parma. So too did fitness coach Alvarez, who has also worked at Real Madrid, Tottenham (under Juande Ramos), Sevilla, CSKA Moscow, Real Betis, Parma, and, most recently, SPAL in Italy’s Serie B.
Analyst Caballero has worked with Atletico Madrid, Parma (alongside Maresca), and Barcelona B in recent seasons.
