Man Utd ‘find agreement’ with £26m Serie A star as they look to stretch £120m budget

Man Utd have agreed terms with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat with the Red Devils now looking to agree a fee, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag is looking to stretch his reported £120m budget for new players with around £60m of that put aside for the imminent arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea.

The Man Utd board will allow Ten Hag to use any funds raised via sales to be put straight back into his budget with rumours as many as 13 squad players are up for sale.

Ten Hag and his transfer team could have to come up with creative solutions to improving their squad with a new striker and goalkeeper their top priorities.

Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is proving too expensive, while they are set to bid for a second time for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

And now Italian outlet La Nazione (via Sport Witness) have claimed that Man Utd are ‘strongly interested’ in Amrabat and insist the Premier League side have ‘found an economic agreement’ with the Morocco international.

Ten Hag managed the Fiorentina midfielder between 2015 and 2017 at Dutch club FC Utrecht that is ‘not a negligible aspect’ to a potential transfer.

The Italian club are looking for at least €30m (£26m) from Man Utd if they want to seal a deal this summer despite the defensive midfielder only having a year left on his contract.

His brother, Nordin, recently revealed that Amrabat – who impressed everyone with his performances at the winter World Cup in Qatar – has “charmed” Man Utd boss Ten Hag.

“He is doing well at Fiorentina. You are not going to trade Italy for the middle bracket of the Premier League,” the Fiorentina midfielder’s brother said last month.

“My brother is 26 years old; he wants to go to the top. Of course, you never know, it (Saudi Arabia) will be a strong competition when you see which names are going. But my brother now has the intention to play in the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think.

“I think in January (United showed interest). But Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible.

“But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother, he broke through under him. And they have a good relationship, so who knows.”
