Tottenham is “very close” to signing a star player they believe is “perfect.”

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has reported that Tottenham Hotspur is “really close” to signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.

Tottenham has been pretty active this transfer window as the club goes through a summer rebuild under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham has already secured the signings of Dejan Kulusevski, who returns on a permanent deal from Juventus, as well as Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison.

They have also reportedly agreed personal terms with Manor Solomon and as per the latest report, with Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven as well.

As per Telegraaf reporter Mike Verweij, the player has reached an agreement with Spurs on a contract until 2028.

However, Tottenham’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements does not end there, as they continue their efforts to secure the services of Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen.

Fabrizio Romano has previously confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the player and claimed that Spurs feel he would be a “perfect” signing for them.

And Galetti has now suggested that Tottenham is on the verge of signing the center-back from the German club.

He told GiveMeSport: “Tottenham, after the finalization of the deals for Maddison and Vicario, are now working on Edmond Tapsoba.

The sensation is that Tottenham are really close to the signing of the center-back from Bayer Leverkusen.”

Tottenham’s defensive line has been identified as an area in need of improvement, and if the reports are accurate, the additions of Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba would strengthen their backline significantly.

In the midst of the squad overhaul, several players are expected to leave Tottenham, including Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez.

The potential signings of Tapsoba and van de Ven would address the defensive issues that the club has been facing, providing solid reinforcements for the upcoming season.
