Versatile forward Aron Sasu has become the third player from AFC Wimbledon’s Academy to sign a professional contract this season.

Sasu, who has already featured three times in the EFL Trophy after making his debut in 2021, netted 17 goals across all competitions at the Academy level last season.

Sasu’s performances in the 2022/23 campaign have earned him the opportunity to step up alongside fellow Academy graduates Paris Lock and Morgan Williams.

Sasu, who joined the Academy in 2015, expressed his excitement about signing his first professional contract.

“I’ve been looking to achieve this since I was a kid. I want to push on to achieve more. The pathway is now there for me to look to nail down a position in the squad. I like to think I’m very fast and of course, I like to score goals. They’re the two best strengths for an attacking player,” he said.

Commenting on Sasu’s contract signing, Academy Manager Michael Hamilton urged the young forward to seize the opportunity.

“It’s a great opportunity for him. He has to keep working as nothing has been achieved yet. He needs to give Johnnie something to think about in pre-season and who knows – opportunities come to those who deserve them. He’s very good in a lot of areas. His presence and his height stand out but that’s not what makes him, he’s a lot more than that,” Hamilton stated.
