Championship side Leicester City are exploring the possibility of signing Manchester City’s highly-rated central defender Callum Doyle, according to reports.

The teenager is currently weighing up his options ahead of the 2023/24 season, and after a stellar loan spell with Coventry City last campaign, the England youth international is unlikely to be short of options.

Callum Doyle is one of several Manchester City starlets to be taking their time when it comes to their next step in their respective careers, with the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Cole Palmer, and James McAtee all sitting down with the club in the coming weeks to decide the next phase.

For one Manchester City rising star in James Trafford, that next step will take him into the Premier League, with the understanding being that Burnley will complete a permanent deal for the England under-21 goalkeeper worth up to £19 million.

As for Callum Doyle, he is attracting further interest from the Championship this summer, but this time working under a familiar face for Manchester City fans and under arguably greater pressure to secure promotion to the English top flight.

According to The Athletic’s Rob Tanner, former Manchester City assistant manager Enzo Maresca, and Leicester City are currently ‘exploring’ a move for Callum Doyle in the ongoing summer transfer window.

It is detailed that the highly-rated 19-year-old central defender is valued at between £7 million and £10 million, with Leicester City interested in bringing him to the King Power Stadium on a permanent basis.

Callum Doyle is another of Manchester City’s more successful Academy graduates, having spent two seasons playing senior-level men’s football in the EFL and playing an integral role in a back-four for Coventry City that almost won promotion to the Premier League last season
