Pirie smashed home 51 goals for club and country last season and was also wanted by the likes of Celtic, although Elland Road looks to be his next destination with the move now close.

And according to Romano taking to his personal Twitter account [7 July], Leeds has now agreed to a deal with the Scottish side to secure their first signing of the summer.

“Pirie scored 51 goals for club & country last season and will join Leeds on a contract to 2026.”

Great deal

After the appointment of Daniel Farke at the helm at Elland Road, it is vitally imperative the club get its act together in the transfer market, especially with a host of key stars set to leave the club.

And it seems as if the Whites are already making moves securing of Pirie who underwent a superb 22/23 campaign at the youth level for Aberdeen and Scotland scoring a whopping 51 goals.

Such form was always going to attract interest from top clubs in Scotland and England and the Whites can certainly boast that they’ve beaten the likes of Celtic to this deal, especially as the Scottish champions are known for swiftly completing deals for players of Pirie’s ilk.

The 16-year-old may not be the glamour signing fans are searching for right now, but it’s encouraging to see Leeds United building towards a new and improved future by bolstering their youth ranks.

This is a superb deal for the club and the player.
