confirmed: Nottingham Forest has signed a £64,000-a-week talented world-class star

Nottingham Forest now back in talks for Renan Lodi signing

Nottingham Forest are back in discussions to sign Renan Lodi from Atletico Madrid this summer. The Brazilian spent last season on loan at the City Ground from Los Rojiblancos and now they’re back in the race to sign him.

According to Football Transfers, the Reds have now entered back into discussions with Atletico. The club initially held an option to sign him for £25 million but Forest weren’t keen on paying that much for Lodi.

Steve Cooper is now firmly back at the table when it comes to the left back. Since his loan deal expired, he’s been linked with a move to Benfica and back to Brazil; although a return to his homeland at this stage looks unlikely.

Lodi was an important player last season as the Reds secured Premier League survival. He found things quite tough when he first signed for the club but he went on to make 32 appearances for the club, scoring once.

At 25 years old, Lodi would be a quality signing for the Reds. Not only is the player supremely talented but he’s also made 16 appearances for the Brazil national team.

If Forest could tempt Lodi into returning to the City Ground it would be some signing made by the club. The player knows Forest already and he’d bring some continuity to the club’s rearguard.

This would be a quality signing by Forest. Fans really took to Lodi and when the Reds beat Arsenal to secure their Premier League status, the player burst into tears in an emotional moment.

The club clearly means a lot to Lodi but it might be a challenge to tempt him back to the City Ground. It’s been claimed since he left that the player is keen to play in the Champions League next season.

Having such a Brazilian contingent on Trentside might persuade Lodi, however. Gustavo Scarpa, Felipe and Danilo all struck up a bit of a bond with the defender last season and hopefully, a deal can be struck with the £64,000-a-week star.
