According to report: £100k/week Leeds United star offered to Champions League giants

Leeds United striker Rodrigo has reportedly been offered to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid this summer as a transfer away looks very likely.

Despite being relegated from the Premier League last season, there are a handful of players in the Leeds squad that can hold their heads high right now. The side didn’t score enough goals to make up for the shocking defensive record this time, but Rodrigo’s efforts cannot be understated.

Rodrigo to Atletico Madrid?

Links to new clubs are rife for Rodrigo after his 13-goal haul in the Premier League last season, and justifiably so with just a year left on his contract and a cut-price exit on the cards.

However, he’s not close to joining any particular club as things stand, but journalist Aaron Dominguez has now claimed that the striker has been offered to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid:

What is Rodrigo’s value and wages?

Rodrigo looks likely to cost whoever he moves to this summer a meager € 3 million after the Whites were relegated, a huge drop from the club-record £ 27 million paid for him in 2020.

His wages appear to be the only stumbling block after his £100,000-per-week wages were slashed following relegation, as the Spaniard looks to recoup those previous earnings – the 50-60% pay cut will see him net £50,000-per-week at Leeds currently.

Where will Leeds finish in 23/24?

Atletico would be a really good move for Rodrigo to get back into Champions League football, as well as helping him consolidate his position in the Spain squad.

He’s not got a great deal longer at the top level in Europe, so a big move should be a real priority for him this summer.

A payday might be on his mind this month, though, given that he’s nearing the back end of his career and has family to think about.
