West Ham is one of a number of Premier League clubs that are battling it out for the signing of Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo, according to Ignazio Genuardi.

The French journalist claims the Hammers are rivaling Brentford and Newcastle United for the Senegal international, while Roma is also rumored to be interested in requiring his services.

The 28-year-old, who has a contract up until 2025, scored 20 goals in 37 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season to help them fight off relegation.

Much-needed goals

There is absolutely no doubt that West Ham needs to find a way to add more goals to the side to avoid potentially being drawn into another relegation battle next season.

With Gianluca Scamacca potentially heading out of London Stadium this summer, the Hammers’ hierarchy will be desperate to spend their money wisely and bring in a top-quality forward this summer.

Diallo has all the hallmarks of a striker that could thrive in David Moyes’s style of play due to his size, ability to hold the ball up, and his pace to get in behind defenses.

He proved last season that he is more than capable of finding the back of the net on a regular basis in a struggling side and, with better players around him, there is no reason why he can’t do that in the Premier League.

There is clearly quite a lot of interest in him from a number of clubs this summer, meaning it’s important we make our move forward now to avoid missing out on his signature.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers ace is at the center of a transfer clash at a European club.
